Scabies are little parasites that live in human skin and make you itch. Symptoms include:
Itching frequently
A rash around the genital area, on the arms, on the breasts, or on the torso
Scabies is not necessarily spread just by sexual intercourse. It can also be spread by skin to skin contact with a sufferer so you should always be careful if somebody you know has it.
If you think you have this then it is easily diagnosed by simple examination or by looking at a small scraping from your rash. You should be able to get a quick diagnosis and treatment is easy with a lotion or shampoo. You can buy this over the counter, but it is always best to get diagnosed rather that just buy the lotion as otherwise you may be treating the wrong thing.
The good thing about this STI is that it does not harm you in the long term and once treated does not generally return. You should always avoid sexual contact during treatment though for the period specified on the packet.
